“What reminds you?”

Art by agnes-cecile.

I saw an interesting prompt from 42 Days Younger Than Kyle on “What reminds you of who you are?” (originally from rarasaur).

Sometimes we lose sight of ourselves, but I believe our lives are a long-standing journey to discover our multiple selves. As a person, we are always evolving, changing in good and bad ways. Somehow, we combine all these different selves across such a large span of time and name it one person.

What reminds me of me? A list:

  1. Eating dinner with my family
  2. Road trips
  3. Journals
  4. Fairies
  5. Sunflowers
  6. Riding a bicycle
  7. Playing with children
  8. Late night MSN conversations
  9. Old photo albums
  10. Pink sunsets
  11. The smell of the air in a forest
  12. Rollercoasters
  13. Oversized hoodies
  14. Feel-good oldies
  15. Sketching and doodles
  16. Chalk drawings on sidewalks
  17. Instrumental Studio Ghibli scores
  18. Chibi Mariko-Chan DVD sets
  19. The first sip of a beer
  20. The library

These are the things, places, and moments that remind me who I am- my values, passions, and a real sense of belonging; the kind of feeling that says, “Yes, this is what I am all about” and “This is what makes me happy”.

Passing on the question to you: What reminds you of you? Do we have any overlaps?

  1. an interesting and unique list.. Yes we are all evolving. Embrace change, it is usually leading something good, perhaps not right away, but soon.
