Monday Motivation: Do Not Forget

It is Monday, I’m sick and very drowsy on cough syrup, but here I am to spread some #MondayMotivation for you all (but mostly for myself).

I usually find myself in a slump before Christmas, where it becomes harder for me to be happy, even if there is nothing going significantly wrong in my life. I have difficulties gathering up my energy and staying positive, and at my low points, I even lose my desire to see other people – all of these signal warning sirens in my mind.

This week I need to remind myself that:

  1. I am responsible for my own happiness
  2. A bad day doesn’t mean a bad life

You may not have control over how other people treat you or see you, but you have control over what you say and feel about yourself. Other people do not ruin your day, you let them.

This means you hold the power to determine who makes or break your day, and that person should solely be you. You are responsible for your own happiness. You have the power to talk to a friend, to de-stress by going on a run, or to clean up your environment and allow yourself to feel refreshed. You also have the power to escape to sleep or to let negativity seep into your core.

And when it feels like you no longer have control, you need to be understanding. Do not let little negative things build up inside your world. It is ok to have a bad day and it is ok to have ugly thoughts, just do not let those consume you. Allow yourself to experience a bad day, but do not let that one day represent your entire being.

Because your life is much better than that. You know it already, you just forget about it in the moment of.

Do not forget.

  1. I love this so much. Its always important to remember that you sometimes have to have a bad day to appreciate the good ones. And like you said, its a bad day, not a bad life! xx.
